Reminder. Dog and Cat Tags Are Due for the Year

The City of Hunter would like to remind all residents that dog and cat tags are now due for the current year. Invoices will be sent out soon, and we appreciate your help in keeping city records accurate and up to date.

Registering your pets is required under Ordinance No. 211 and helps ensure the safety, identification, and wellbeing of all animals within city limits.

What You Need to Know

  • All dogs and cats six months of age or older must be registered annually.
  • Registration runs from January 1 through December 31 each year.
  • Pets must wear their city-issued tag at all times.

When submitting your payment, please remember to notify City Clerk if:

  • You have lost a pet
  • You have gained a new pet
  • You are new to town and need to register your animals

Providing updates helps the city maintain accurate records and ensures pets can be returned to their owners if found.

Additional Ordinance Reminders

  • Dogs and cats must be kept on the owner’s property or on a leash when off property.
  • There are limits on the number of animals per household unless special approval is granted.
  • Failure to register pets may result in penalties or doubled fees.
